The second fundamental aspect of groundwork is Clear Communication. We need to be able to deliver clear, understandable signals to the dog as well as read the signals the dog gives us. As you go through your training program you will likely learn some of these communication signals that dogs give us. One of the easiest to recognize is the wagging tail. Most think that this is a signal of only happiness but you may be surprised to learn that it can mean so much more. Food for thought: almost all dogs that bite have a wagging tail.
