TEACHING YOUR DOG TO BARK

Teaching bark or a speak command is not formal obedience. But this trick can come in handy. Some people have used this tip as a passive deterrent when someone they don't know knocks on their door for example. Some people just train this command to have their dog learn something new. Try these easy steps:

  • Most dogs bark at something. The trick is finding what makes this behavior happen. Be on the look out for what triggers your dog to bark and use it to your advantage.

  • Once you find what makes him bark, try rewarding that behavior with his favorite treat or toy.

  • Add in a word, like speak, each time he performs this trick.

Before you know it, you have taught your dog how to bark on command.
